VMware Monitoring & Management

Hyperic HQ for VMware is a pioneering new solution that enables data centers to consolidate complete discovery, monitoring, analysis and control of all application, system and network assets, both inside and outside of the virtual machines powered by VMware.

Your Key to Systems Monitoring for Virtual Machines

Hyperic HQ provides complete systems manageability by combining a monitoring intelligence portal with an application management platform.

  • Full VMware Server and ESX Support
  • Analyze Utilization and Performance Inside VMs
  • Correlate Events Between Host and Guests
  • Start, Stop and Control all VMs*
  • Easy Setup - Get Started in 20 Minutes

HQ's portal enables system administrators to analyze performance metrics from the outside in, from VMware's perspective on how the physical and virtual machines are performing, and from the inside out, from inside the virtual machine and how its operating system, applications, middleware, databases and services are behaving.

This layered view of the infrastructure deployment allows system administrators to readily diagnose performance issues that are easily missed when looking from the traditional outside in perspective. Historical charting, event correlation capabilities, and configurable graphs allow system administrators to quickly review, drilldown and refine performance data analysis to achieve results.

Hyperic HQ's application management platform supports the widest and most up to date footprint of networks, hardware, operating systems, applications, middleware, databases and services already in current use today. Hyperic's powerful Plug-in Development Kit (PDK) empowers administrators and developers alike to extend management capabilities to additional hardware, applications and services to provide a complete view of the hybrid stack organizations strive to manage.

With support for VMware Server and ESX, HQ's auto discovery will dynamically discover all virtual machines in any VMware host, and will continue to update the inventory to keep pace with rapidly redeployed and moved resources typical of a virtualized deployment. HQ also provides monitoring of the VMware host and the individual VM's resource consumption to help administrators understand the consumption of host machine resources by every individual virtual machine.

Event Management From the Ground Up

HQ's event management features are used to provide visibility into the log events reported for every VM managed by HQ. Log events provide system awareness for performance data, configuration changes and security action changes. These events can be used to generate alerts, or simply correlate errors reported in the VMware logs with other performance and health indicators elsewhere in the environment.

HQ's control infrastructure allows you to pause, stop, start, and snapshot virtual machines directly from the HQ interface, consolidating primary management tasks into the monitoring intelligence portal.
