WebSphere Monitoring & Management
IBM WebSphere is a very popular commercial J2EE application server. HQ uses the PMI and JMX management interfaces exposed by WebSphere to provide comprehensive inventory, monitoring and control for all websphere components, as well as complete cluster support.
HQ is able to manage WebSphere resources such as JDBC pools, EJBs, and Webapps while also using its support of MQ Series to manage the JMS infrastructure commonly deployed alongside the Websphere application server.
It also supports real per-request response time metrics for every webapp deployed in the WebSphere container allowing you to combine measurements taken from your component services with the real response times of the pages in your WebSphere application.
The HQ log and configuration tracking technology is used to monitor websphere log files and JMX events for any messages which the administrator is interested in capturing. These log events can be used to correlate a fault found in a log with any abnormal behavior in the performance metrics collected for Websphere. They can also be used to trigger alerts for specific application level log messages.
HQ includes complete support for the IBM HTTP Server which is typically installed with WebSphere. This support is derived from the Apache 1.3 management capabilities found in our Apache Monitoring plugin.
